The renowned publisher has welcomed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to direct the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently crafting the upcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Brinkman steps into the role of studio head at the development studio following the departure of previous head Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' underwhelming early showing last autumn.
Recently, 2K president David Ismailer informed team members about this strategic move through an internal memo, which stressed that early feedback sessions had indicated the necessity for a more defined game identity.
The president noted that the team is now reimagining the project with a refreshed approach, aiming to address player expectations.
This announcement mirrors a comparable move taken by the publisher in the summer, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to contribute to the beloved franchise development group.

Team—
I know you all just completed your meeting - I trust you’re as thrilled as I am with the recent updates. Last time I shared you all a message, I expressed the following: “I believe in this group. You all are some of the most motivated and talented designers we have had the opportunity to partner with - and we’re excited for that relationship to endure.”
With your dedication and adaptability, especially over the past twelve months, you repeatedly show that.
The community feedback from last autumn’s the game demo was enlightening. It validated the potential of a roguelike shooter but made clear we still had improvements to make. It revealed the need for a sharper brand.
It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve come. You accepted the feedback to consideration and reimagined the title with a revitalized goal - one that’s positioned to achieve its potential to our players.
Our confidence in Project ETHOS grows every day. To boost the outstanding advancement you’ve made, I am thrilled to introduce Ben Brinkman as the latest Studio Head of 31st Union. Following several months of conversations, he officially joins us on the specified date.
