The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Anger Over Sizing Changes

Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.

The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update.

Social Media Response

Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.

They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.

Size Classification Changes

Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Shopper Accounts

Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.

Manual Updates

Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".

"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.

Platform Context

The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.

It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
